a combination of 'Winter Night' and 'Summer Day', and black paint with white paper.

this is my most experimental work... i wanted to play with texture and also just one colour (or lack thereof), black. black and white together create the most stark contrasts, as do the seasons of winter and summer; and the times of night and day. i painted the winter one first... not sure of what was going to come out of it. at first i had no idea what i was painting, but as it came along (it was a fast and spontaneous yet somewhat controlled painting) i noticed it looked like bare trees in the snow on a winter night... maybe because thats what i want so bad right now, for it to be winter again. this sparked the idea of making a second painting, with even more texture and starkness in colour. and of course, inspired by starkness, i wanted to do the complete opposite of 'winter night'.... more energy, less grey tones, and more texture. so i ended up with 'summer day'.


interesting little side note- most people have more energy in the summer and also in the daytime, and tend to be happier (thats just from my observations). these people are the opposite in the winter and at night. however, im the opposite, im full of energy in the winter and also at night... it might have something to do with being born in the winter and at night, perhaps?
